Ok ladies, we have all said this a time or two..or three. “ I have nothing to wear”. You and me both know in most cases that is SO not true. But I think I have figured out why we might feel that way. We are overwhelmed! At least I am, it seems like the more clothes, shoes and accessories I buy the harder it is for me to put together an outfit. Being overwhelmed by the product we have can many times cloud our ability to be creative because there are way too many options to choose from. If you are like me and love all of the possibilities fashion has to offer it may be really hard to choose just 1 or 2 items that you want to wear. It’s so funny, I find myself admiring so many people’s looks either on Instagram, Pinterest or even in person. I say to myself, why can’t my outfits look that cute, or they look so put together it doesn’t even look like they had to try hard. The battle is, they could have spent hours trying to pick out that look and unfortunately I don’t have that kind of time in the morning. If this sounds like something you deal with too, rest assure I got your back! I have gathered some advice and tips to help you pick a look, stick with it and get out the door in no time!

  1. Know what you like: I put this first on the list because I use to have a really bad habit of either buying on impulse or buying because of price. This can be dangerous in a few ways. For one, you don’t take the time to evaluate your purchase and ask yourself “do I really like this?” If you can’t see yourself pairing the item with anything else in your closet or if it’s one of those things where you don’t know where you could wear it, but it’s pretty, so you buy it anyway. We all know how that ends up! Knowing what you like and knowing what your everyday style is can help keep clutter out of your closet from unnecessary purchases.
  2. Plan ahead: Ok, I know this is easier said than done but it really does help. There was a time where I had room in my closet to get inspired either through Instagram, another blog or pinterest to plan my outfits. Planning ahead really is a no-brainer if you have no time in the morning to hassle with what you feel like wearing. What helped me when I was using this method was to take a day where I’m just relaxing, maybe watching tv and plan 7 outfits. Creating this many options will create variety for you and you won’t feel pressure to choose from just 5 for the week you can really make a choice based on what your style is like for the day..
  3. Use an app: To be honest I always thought the idea of this was awesome and I currently have an outfit planning app on my phone that I have never used. But I have heard good things about this method and I promise when I start using it myself I will let you know if I like it. Apps like “Mode-Relier”, “Stylebook” and “Glam Outfit” allow you to take pictures of your clothing, shoes even accessories and uses your photos to create outfit variations for you. Taking pictures of all my clothing sounds like an overwhelming task but I feel like it could be really helpful in the long run.
  4. Organize by Color: Color coordination helps me to stay somewhat sane while sifting through my wardrobe. I am able to really see the colors that I like to wear and the colors or patterns I need to add to my wardrobe. This type of organization can also help if you are set on one piece but really just need to pick out a piece based on what color it is.
